Overview
Standing at 6,476 meters, Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal, a graceful snow giant rising from the remote hills of the Hinku Valley. Though physically demanding, it is considered one of the most achievable Himalayan summits for non-technical climbers—and the rewards are legendary. From the top, more of the world’s tallest mountains fill your horizon than from almost any other viewpoint in Nepal: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Cho Oyu all stand unveiled in a 360-degree panorama that feels almost surreal.
The climb is a journey through some of the most beautifully varied terrain in the country. Beginning with a dramatic mountain flight into Lukla, the trail leads through rhododendron forests, alpine pastures, glacial valleys, and high mountain plateaus. The route through the Hinku Valley is especially magical—quiet, untouched, and far from the busier Everest trails. Sherpa villages, yak pastures, and fluttering prayer flags provide a serene backdrop as you acclimatize.
Above Khare, the world shifts into the realm of ice and snow. Long, gentle glaciers sweep upward toward high camp, offering a true mountaineering experience without the extreme technical difficulty of higher Himalayan expeditions. The final summit push begins before dawn, climbing steadily under a sky of brilliant stars. As the first light hits the snow slopes, the Himalaya turn gold—and the summit ridge comes into view.
